Water Cycle

Result

Overview

This project models the events in the water cycle. By moving the sun, users make water droplets evaporate, and form clouds, and clear the sky. By clicking on the clouds, users make it rain.

Learning outcome

  • Create an interactive model.
  • Identify possibilities for that the development of other scientific representations.
  • Analyze steps and sequence within a process, and identify multiple modes of representation.

Computing Concepts in this project

  • Classes
  • Conditional Statements
  • Adding multiple consequences to conditional statements “+”
  • Variables
  • Counters
  • Physics and Momentum
  • Setting Backgrounds
  • Playing Effects via conditional Events
  • Modeling

Behaviors & Effects in this project:

  • Drag (SUN)
  • Stay in Frame (DROP)
  • Counter Behavior (TOP)
  • Rain effect (TOP)

CCSS:

CC.5.R.I.5 Craft and Structure: Compare and contrast the overall structure (e.g., chronology, comparison, cause/effect, problem/solution) of events, ideas, concepts, or information in two or more texts.

CC.6.R.I.5 Craft and Structure: Analyze how a particular sentence, paragraph, chapter, or section fits into the overall structure of a text and contributes to the development of the ideas.

CC.7.R.I.6 Craft and Structure: Determine an author’s point of view or purpose in a text and analyze how the author distinguishes his or her position from that of others.

[SUB CCSS]
CC.5.R.I.4 Craft and Structure: Determine the meaning of general academic and domain-specific words and phrases in a text relevant to a grade 5 topic or subject area.

CC.7.R.I.9 Integration of Knowledge and Ideas: Analyze how two or more authors writing about the same topic shape their presentations of key information by emphasizing different evidence or advancing different interpretations of facts.
